SUMMARY

Science, technology, and creativity are connected (with serendipity, at times, playing an important part). Today's presentation begins in the year 1769, with Captain Cook (1728-1779) and his travels throughout the South Pacific (and and his "discovery" of the islands of Tahiti in 1769). The presentation then then advancs to 1869 and the "Golden Spike"in North America and continues to 1969 when human beings made a landing on the Moon (and returned safely to Earth)! Speculative ideas about 2069 are also offered.
