SUMMARY

The name Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) will be forever associated with Tahiti, or French Polynesia, but Gauguin also drew inspiration for some of his exquisite creations from other Pacific islands, including New Zealand as well as Easter Island.   This presentation deals with Gauguin's background and how he created his exquisite portrayals of French Polynesian life and then placed Tahiti on maps of the world.
