B. A computerized summary of the data available in the College of Behavioral and Sciences for the Spring 2002 SET [Student Evaluation of Teaching] indicates that students continue to regard me as a "Superior" or "Very Good" teacher. In SET-Part I, students were asked to respond to ten statements as follows: "Strongly Agree, Agree, Neither Agree, Disagree, Strongly Disagree, or Does Not Apply." Clearly, the majority of students for all three courses responded with "Strongly Agree" [SA], or "Agree" [A] for statements 1-10. The statements were: #1: The syllabus explains course requirements; #2: My overall knowledge of the subject matter has increased due to the instruction of this course; #3: The instructor presents the material in an understandable way; #4: The instructor is well prepared for class; #5: The instructor follows the course syllabus; #6: The instructor is available during office hours; #7: The course assignments contribute to learning; #8: The instructor gives appropriate feedback; #9: The instructor communicates high expectations for student achievement; and #10: The instructor monitors student learning throughout the course.

The "open-ended" responses for all three courses SET-Part II ("#1: "What did your instructor do to make this class a good learning experience for you?" and #2: "What could your instructor do in the future to make this a better class?") have numerous positive written responses including: "He touches my soul" and "excellent class" as well as "good visuals" and "the class is well organized and to the point." Other comments included "I was intrigued, entertained, and learned a lot" as well as "Dr. Urbanowicz has the ability to inspire his students to want to be the best next generation of great Anthropologists" and "His positive anthropological attitude is contagious." For question #3 on SET-Part II the following was asked: "How do you rate the overall quality of teaching in this class? Circle one" and the options were "Superior, Very Good, Adequate, Minimally Acceptable, and Unacceptable. For ANTH 13-01, 30% of the students circled "Superior" and 44% circled "Very Good." For ANTH 103, 50% of the students circled "Superior" and 30% circled "Very Good." For ANTH 296, 42% of the students circled "Superior" and 38% circled "Very Good." All-of-the above student statements and statistics are consistent with the FAR/FMI [Faculty Merit Increase] information submitted on October 2, 2000 (for 7/1/1999 to 6/30/2000) as well as the http://www.csuchico.edu/~curban/FARFall2001.html (for 7/1/2000 to 6/30/2001).

C. Changes in Teaching: The classroom environment includes information from videos, the Internet, Power Point, Slides, and the WWW. The various Guidebooks for the three classes (ANTH 13-01, ANTH 103-01, and ANTH 296) were updated throughout the semester and Web-based "self-tests" were created for students.

D. Responsibilities: Serve as Minor Advisor and serve on the Graduate Committee.

E. Other: Worked with new Department of Anthropology Tenure-Track faculty member, Dr. Georgia Fox, on her classroom activities.
